If you tell me that a car with two doors is a coupe and one with four doors is a sedan and if I know what “doors” are then you’ve answered the question: “What is the difference between a coupe and a sedan.”

If you tell me that a car with crenalated cromatic widget is a coupe and a car with a non-crenalated cromatic widget is a sedan and you don’t tell me what “crenalated” means and what “cromatic” means, then you’ve told me nothing particularly useful to me about the difference between a coupe and a sedan.
