Every time I publish something that advocates a living wage someone makes the comment that it will cost jobs. I tell them, first, that it probably won’t and second, that any job that pays adults a full-time amount that they cannot live on is a job that should be lost. They usually ignore that.

Then I point out that these employers are shifting their costs to the taxpayers and making the taxpayers and the government cover their real labor costs, thus increasing taxes and increasing the size of government and compromising free-market business principles.

Hypocritical Conservatives Want Taxpayers To Subsidize Their Business Costs — End the Subsidy — Businesses, Not Taxpayers, Should Pay Their Own Expenses.

I usually don’t hear from them again.
