I’ve thought about charging for my work but then I asked myself: “What’s my goal here: (1) to make a few paltry dollars or (2) to write something that I hope will make people think or laugh?”

Kind of a no-brainer, right?

If guess if the day comes when I need an extra couple of hundred bucks in order to pay the electric bill or stock up on Costco giant, economy-sized cartons of Mac & Cheese to stave off immanent starvation I guess I’ll put my columns behind the pay wall. Until then, No thanks.

I hope more writers will (and can afford) to make that same decision. Personally, I’d much rather Medium made money from placing ads in my columns than charging readers a subscription fee.
