Putting my columns behind the paywall reduced my readership by two-thirds. I was regularly getting over 3,000 views per week. Within a month of putting my columns behind the paywall, that’s fallen to about 1,100/views week.

You’ve given me a tough choice:

(1) put my columns behind the paywall for the possibility that one of your curators might recommend one of them and see my readership drastically reduced, or

(2) make my work freely available with no chance of any promotion by Medium, but increase my potential readership by several thousand.

Medium’s rules forbid my including a link in a comment, but I would ask that you read my Medium column “As A Writer, I Think Medium Needs To Make Two Fundamental Changes To Its Business Model” and consider my comments.

If necessary I would be willing to pay Medium $50/year to have Medium’s curators review my work that was NOT behind the paywall.

Please give me that option.
