Thank you, Bruce. I’ve often thought more or less the same thing.

When you look critically at homo sapiens as a species, it’s not a very pretty picture.

We spend about half our federal budget on preparing to kill people.

Our books, movies, games and news are heavily focused on violence and, you guessed it, killing people.

When a very large segment of the country thinks it is good policy to spend more money on preparing to kill more people and also to spend less money on feeding families that don’t have enough to eat, you get a little insight into the fundamental nature of the human animal.

That plus not being very smart is a dangerous combination. As Walt Kelly said, “We have met the enemy and they are us.”
