We aren’t in China or Africa or anywhere else. Try telling someone that they should work for $5/hour because that’s more than people make in China and see how convincing they think that argument is.

This is not a “work or starve, peasant” society, though I suspect you would like it to be one. In any event, I accurately stated what people do. What you think they should do is irrelevant.
