You would have to triple the income tax and use all of that money to fund a UBI of $1,500/month. A Little Math Shows That A Universal Basic Income Is Completely, Totally, Impossible.

If you divert payroll taxes you won’t have the money needed to fund social security and Medicare which are already soon going to go into the red. And even then $1,500/month is less than many people now receive as a social security payment and current SS payments are not enough for people to live on.

The UBI is a hammer that sees everything as a nail. Here’s a better answer:

A Guaranteed Minimum Income Is The Wrong Answer To The Right Question. The Solution To The Shortage Of Living-Wage, Low-Skilled Jobs Is Publicly Funded, Non-Profit Corporations That Will Pay A Living Wage
